POLICE have charged a man following the death of another man who fell out of a car in Melbourne.

Police say a 38-year-old Sunshine man died after he fell out of a car just after 9pm (AEST) on Friday in Sunshine.

The man, who was a front passenger seat of the car, is believed to have hit his head on the roadway and died at the scene.

The 28-year-old male driver of the car has been charged with conduct endangering life and was bailed to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates' Court on Monday.

Two other people also died on Victoria's roads in separate accidents overnight, prompting police to plead with motorists to take more care on the roads.

Near Winchelsea, a man died when his car hit two other cars travelling in the opposite direction just before 1am.

A motorcyclist was killed in a collision with a car in Pearcedale, just after 8pm on Friday.

Road Policing Command Assistant Commissioner Robert Hill said people were failing to hear the message that road fatalities had devastating consequences.

"There are too many families being torn apart by the tragedy of road trauma and people just don't seem to be getting the message," he said.

The fatalities take Victoria's road toll to 142, compared to 157 for the same time last year.
